Vernon Butterly is a qualified planner with 30 years extensive experience in urban and regional planning, subdivision, land tenure solutions, town planning appeals, project coordination, strata titles and GIS approaches in planning. 

As a founder of Whelans, Vernon has a robust knowledge of urban and regional planning throughout Western Australia, together with experience in other states of Australia; plus South Africa, China and Vietnam.  Over those years Vernon has developed a wide professional network of affiliates and a reputation for effective advocacy on behalf of clients, both large and small.

Prior to becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Emerson Stewart Group Limited Vernon successfully held the position of Chairman for Whelans (WA) Pty Ltd. Vernon seeks to be at the forefront in both professional consultancy and technological service in relation to land - its use, management, development or conservation. He is an active member of the UDIA, Property Council of Australia and Australian Institute of Management.
